Season 4 of Dining Divas premieres with Episode 1, featuring a culinary tour of Sistrunk Blvd in Fort Lauderdale, Florida

The History, Culture, and Rebuild of the Historic Sistrunk Blvd.

“Dining Divas is educational, with a hint of fashion and a dash of personality, which bakes Dining Divas: the best foodie and lifestyle TV show on the planet.” — Founder, Christine Curran

The adventure begins at Smitty’s, where Senator Chris Smith opened a popular wing joint to tell the story of Sistrunk Blvd. with a picture wall that walks you through the timeline of black history in the area. The Divas hosted a public party, attracting over 150 locals in support of the area’s historic rebuild.

The second stop on this iconic tour was Betty’s Soul Food. Serving the community for 50 years, Betty’s is a staple on Sistrunk Blvd. Celebrities and politicians like Janet Jackson and Hilary Clinton visit when they’re in town, making it a landmark on the block.

The Divas then visited the new state-of-the-art YMCA, filled with memories from Doctor Sistrunk and the formerly standing Provident Hospital. Inside the Black Box Theatre, the Divas hosted a beautiful event with over 100 attendees, featuring performances by DJ Adiac, guitarist Teddy, comedian Sharon Phieffer, and magician Remy Connor. The Divas were honored with a proclamation by the Mayor of Ft. Lauderdale, presented by Vice Mayor Pamela Beasley-Pittman, declaring November 14th as Dining Divas Day.

Next, the Divas visited Donna’s Caribbean Restaurant, offering a unique and eclectic menu from ackee saltfish to curry goat. This hotspot is the only drive-thru on Sistrunk Blvd., perfect for grabbing quality food on the go.

They closed out this episode at the Checkmate Barber Shop with a community block party. The ladies toured the work, play, and eat space, which includes Blueprint Recording (a podcast studio), Provident Market (a bottega named after the historic hospital), and State of Mind (an office space fostering collaboration among locals). This creative space is owned and operated by Devon Fraser, Greg Wright, and Lucian White. The day ended with a jam session at the Sistrunk Festival, attended by thousands of residents.
